Möwes- winemakers of the Pfalz, Germany
Rooted with a long history in the Pfalz, Rudi Möwes and his family have been producing wines since the 17th century. Driven by intellectual curiosity, he was enticed by the idea of how his grapes would taste when grown on different soils. Starting with his own family’s vineyards, he experimented by separating all of his grapes according to the types of soil available. Neutral stainless-steel tanks are used to ferment the different parcels without any external influences so that the essence of his vineyards is encased within each bottle. This has allowed him to focus on the purity of each specific soil type. Most of his wines are named after the soil where the grapes were derived from.
